Our Sister Restaurant Roots York
It’s now 6 months since our sister restaurant Roots opened in York and brought a taste of Oldstead into the city. It was quite a step for us, so it’s been great to have been made so welcome. There has been a real buzz of excitement with enthusiastic embraces from both guests and critics. Thank you!
Roots offers a selection of small plates that Tommy and his team have created using produce from The Farm and The Garden here in Oldstead . They work around three seasons; The Preservation Season, The Hunger Gap and The Time of Abundance. With these, the dishes change as the availability of ingredients come and go. You can choose as many dishes as you like or just leave it to us and we will serve our selection of sharing plates – The Roots Feast!

If you haven’t been yet then we would love you to make a visit. You don’t have to wait for a special occasion. If the full Feast Menu is perhaps a bit of an indulgence, why not visit for a light lunch or stop off in the early evening before a trip to the theatre. If you need an excuse to give in to those cravings that build during a long morning shopping then make it their famous cheese custard or maybe a bao bun.
Whether it’s for a snack or a feast, a first visit or the sixth, they look forward to welcoming you soon!
